The Thing About Andromedin Women

Two days before her ascension:
The suns rose in the sky, side by side. Solar Un and Solar Do cast bright rays across the city below. The young woman looked out from her bedroom window. The shops were beginning to open and squadrons of Andromedin warriors were exercising in the fields immediately outside of the city walls. It was a dangerous place to be. Wild beasts and outliers roamed beyond the protected barriers of Andromeda. She knew this as part of her education. A young queen in the making, she would rule this queendom one day, or sooner should anything happen to her mother before she could abdicate at age fifty, thereby transitioning to the Council of Elders.
Traditions were
key, her mother said, to maintaining rule. The more ingrained the traditions,
the stronger the people.
Dyonara grew up in
these traditions, but as far as she knew, they only went back three
generations. Before that, life here was a startling contrast. Male Andromedins
ruled. Shelion 5 was a kingdom, and the king ruled with an iron fist. Queen
Patra’s own grandfather was that king. Herculon the Savage. His mistake came in
forcefully marrying an ambitious young woman, their founding mother, Sera.
Sera came from a
true Andromedin lineage of royal blood. True Andromedin women had special
characteristics. Over seven feet tall. Unusually strong. Three breasts with
nipples that sparkle like jewels. There weren’t too many pure-blood Andromedin
women any longer, but her mother was one, and so was the all-powerful Abbess
Paz, formally referred to as Seductress Superior.
Today, Dyonara would meet with her to advance her education in anticipation of her ascension. Her best friend, Zall, would join in as well. She had no idea what to expect. Apparently, the ascension ritual—when Andromedin females become full-fledged women—was something of a secret. All she knew was that it had something to do with the seeds...
